An atheist father - loving and peaceful person
who reads Vivekanandar books and does Pranayam occasionally.
It was January 28 2007. Samyama program was happening at Isha Yoga Center. At the same time, 7 day Isha Yoga program was about to commence in Dindugal. I invited Dad to join the 7 days program. He looked at me closely and said, “Your face looks more brighter than usual. Have you stopped smoking and drinking?”
I just smiled in return. I had been doing Shakti Chalana kriya continuously for 2 months at that time. This helped me come of out of those 2 addictions. I had become more peaceful and more calmer.
My dad accepted
my request and joined the class. Teacher was Krishnakumar Anna - full time volunteer at Isha.
The class was a unique and joyful experience for my father. Doing the practices for 5 days had brought in a very big change in him. On the 5 th day of the program, even a very tough person would have become tender. It was at one of those moments that me and my father were able to see through each other.
At the end of 7 days, my father shared his joyful experiences with the 65
participants for 15 minutes, with tears of joy. He even thanked me. He then closed his eyes and fell. We can call it death but I would like to call it
“Completion”. The last word that he spoke and wrote was only “Joy Joy Joy”.
His eyes were donated according to his wishes. His death did not bring any sorrow or even a single tear from me. In contrast I was celebrating, with the music from sounds of isha. Yes, it is a crime to not celebrate a person who left his body in a sitting posture like a Yogi , without pain and discomfort.
Sadhguru was notified about my father’s death in Samyama class.
He said to the Samyama participants, ”When a person is ready to dissolve, just the 7 day Shambhavi program is enough. There is no need for Samyama.”
